Just as your fave team zooms out onto the ice, you know exactly what these die-hard fans and mini Gretzky needs.

1. It’s time for a little bit of Good Ol’ Hockey Game” (aka: Good Old Hockey Game) – a classic song also known as The Hockey Game that’s as much a part of hockey as missing teeth and penalty boxes. Brought to us by the Canadian legend, Stompin’ Tom Connors, it’s more than just a song; it’s a tradition wrapped up in a toe-tapping, crowd-pleasing, hockey-lovin’ package. Cue the music, It’s game time!

If you’re tuning in from outside the U.S.A., this jam might be a fresh one for your ears. Slapshot Soundtracks: The Ultimate Tunes to Rock Your Kiddo’s Hockey Games

Hockey Songs at Warm-ups for Both Spectators and the Players:

Why is this important?  Many reasons…the game of hockey and many sports.  Our kiddos feel your excitement, they look up and read your body language and facial expressions.  They are looking for cues on how this whole game thing is gonna go.  If Mom or Dad looks nervous or concerned, the kids immediately pick up on this and it can affect their game.

Three Squirt Ice Hockey Players taking a knee during a game

Picture this: Your little hockey player glances up and spots you in the stands or through the rink glass. You’re laughing, chatting, and just radiating that relaxed vibe (yes, even if you’re secretly stressing about the laundry mountain at home!). They see you, they feel your calm, your joy, your pride.

They channel that energy right back into their game! It’s like you’re passing them the puck of positivity and they’re scoring the winning goal with it. So keep on cheering, keep on smiling – because you’re not just in the stands, you’re in their hearts and on the ice with them.

There is the ability to play longer snippets of tunes before the game at warm-ups or even before when the teams are still in the locker rooms.  Let those beats drop and watch as the hockey fans’ energy levels go through the rink roof!

During Warm-Ups:

Take what you like, and leave the rest.  You know your audience.  The goal (no pun intended…) is to keep the energy high and the spirits bright as your kiddos prepare to hit the ice.

Prior to the Game and Puck Drop:

The warm-up time has ended and the team begins to come together.  I am a flag-carrying USA Hockey Mom, so therefore if allowed and time permitting (which in my personal opinion (ahem…) there should always be time permitting).

This is definitely something you need to discuss with the Director of the rink and/or the Referees/Officials before you take the box and hook up.  Both teams, coaches, and managers need to know this is coming.  For your usual games, this may not occur.

Important dates on the calendar, or playoffs, you might find this more customary and this may already be handled by the respective Hockey Director and Rink Management hosting the game.   But, if you need it, its always good to have some on you iPad:

National Anthems:
